This page collects information about playing card museums or permanent exhibitions of playing card collections (as parts of museums and galleries) from around the world. Its aim is to give short information about such museums (expositions) and provoke people to visit them.

Please, note that any information often seeks for becoming out of date or inaccurate. Don’t be shy to help me to restrain its obstinate intentions. Some photos from this page are clickable.

Musée Français de la Carte à Jouer

(The French Museum of Playing Cards)

Musée-Français-de-la-Carte-à-Jouer-LogoMusée Français de la Carte à Jouer (Issy-les-Moulineaux) is a French museum devoted to playing cards. Its destiny was predetermined in 1986 due to a very successful playing card exhibition held by the museum. Initially its playing card collection was based on two great playing card collections from a French collector, Louis Chardonneret, and a Belgian collector, Robert Thyssen. But the museum obtains new packs of playing cards and playing card collections with the aim to develop its funds. It has more than 9,000 packs of playing cards, nearly 6500 card games, 980 engravings drawings, posters and more than a thousand objects gathered in the museum.
