Tiki are large wood and stone carvings which have humanoid forms and take special place in Central Eastern Polynesian cultures of the Pacific Ocean. This term is also used in Māori mythology. In accordance with this mythology Tiki was the first man created by either Tūmatauenga or Tāne.

Using papercutting techniques, Emmanuel follows a centuries-old tradition of transforming the suits and pips of a standard deck of playing cards.
