A whole year after the first Venexiana deck, the story continues with a travel to the dark heart of 18th century Venice. Venexiana Dark features a series of obscure and marginal characters who complete the picture of this haunting city. Thieves, assassins, courtesans, wicked noblemen and masters of deception are all on board in this imaginary gondola.

The decks are planned to be printed by the Expert Playing Card Company (EPCC).

It makes sense to remind those who haven’t held Bicycle Venexiana deck in their hands that “Venexiana” is how the word “Veneziana” is written in the area of Veneto (northern Italy).

Lotrek is the owner of Half Moon Playing Cards and the designer of Timeless deck, Bicycle Butterfly deck, Grotesque decks, etc. He plans to produce two interesting variations (editions) of Venexiana Dark. The “Masked” edition will feature the courts wearing masks. All that representatives of vicious Venice will reveal you their cunning, artful and shameless faces in the “Reveal” edition. So, your curiosity will force you to get the “Reveal” edition in a couple of the “Masked” edition. At the same time, your aversion to that people done for the worthy Venexiana society will compel you to get the “Masked” edition in a couple of the “Reveal” edition.

“When I posted the Queen of Clubs, people (the boys) started saying: “hehe, we want to see more of her than just an unmasking”. I thought that this was a good idea for all the courts though. Not only an unmasking but some more details that could add to the story. So I decided to have subtle (or less subtle) changes from the masked to the urevealed edition. Some courts help to do that, some others not so much.” ~ Lotrek

Different editions of Venexiana Dark playing cards will also have slightly different backs. Metallic inks on the back design are possible as the stretch goal… And, yes, that is someone’s blood on playing cards form the “Reveal” edition. You choose the edition wanting some expose, you have it.

“One of the Jokers in Signature Edition Decks will be hand drawn by me on a real card which will be printed only on the back side and left blank on the front. The Platinum Signature edition will have the Masked deck inside, while the Gold Signature will have the Revealed deck. For the Platinum/masked I will draw the Joker with the eyes closed and for the Gold/revealed I’ll draw the Joker with the eyes open. The drawing will be with black permanent ink and it will have enough detail, not just a fast sketch.” ~ Lotrek
