Upcoming: Gary Baseman “The Door is Always Open” Playing Cards

Gary Baseman is a leader within an international cultural movement that includes both mainstream and underground art. After a career as a top commercial illustrator, creator of Disney’s Teacher’s Pet animated show, and artist for the Cranium board game, he felt he should not be “limited to one world, whether the gallery world, editorial world, or art toy world.” He has now embraced them all with success.

In March 2013, the Skirball Cultural Center in Los Angeles will install a major career retrospective, My Door Is Always Open, that will run for six months. Dark Horse is celebrating with a new range of merchandise, all selected and approved by Gary Baseman.

The fun and zany artwork from his “The Door is Always Open” exhibition is featured on these colorful Gary Baseman The Door is Always Open Playing Cards.

Dave Matthews Band Official Playing Cards

Dave Matthews Band, abbreviated DMB, is an American rock band that was formed in Charlottesville, Virginia, U.S. in 1991. The group’s lyrical themes focus on topics ranging from God, love, sex, the enjoyment and appreciation of life, to ending racism, and political and anti-war statements. The founding members were singer-songwriter and guitarist Dave Matthews, bassist Stefan Lessard, drummer/backing vocalist Carter Beauford and saxophonist LeRoi Moore.

The band is known for their annual summer-long tours of the US and Europe, featuring lengthy improvisational renditions of their songs, accompanied by an elaborate video and lighting show. This portion of the tour has become a stamp of DMB.

The band has won one Grammy Award, and was awarded the NAACP Chairman’s Award.

Methane Studios has been commissioned to design posters and create special projects for the Dave Matthews Band since 2005. Some of those posters were used for decks of playing cards: 2009 edition, 2010 edition and 2012 edition:

In partnership with Methane Studios – a custom deck of playing cards ( a limited edition run). Each of the 52 cards and 2 jokers in this standard deck feature a different poster from the 2009 tour and on the back you’ll find our twist on the classic Bicycle card backs.

Creature Cards Deck by Fire Mountain Games on Kickstarter

Creature Cards is a deck of 56 beautiful full-color Bicycle playing cards created by famed fantasy artist Michael Clarke for Fire Mountain Games. Each card will feature a unique color illustration of a creature of myth and legend – deadly dragons, wicked ogres, medusa, giants, a phoenix and so much more! The cards will come sealed in a full color custom tuck-case.

Note !!! Once our funding is gathered, Michael Clarke will begin work finishing the art and layout of the cards. Backers will be included in every step of this process and get to see the creative process at work. Only when we’re 100% happy that we’ve got the most beautiful deck of monster cards ever produced, will then will the order be sent for printing. Once the print run is finished, all the backers will receive their merchandise.
