DeviantART: Playing cards by Mike Wilcox

An American artist, Mike Wilcox (Mi-Wi), had his own deck of playing cards in mind creating these playing card artworks. He wanted to design a deck with four thematic suits. Three of them should be Robots, Pirates, Ninjas. Mike didn’t decide about the fourth suits. The plan was to design one card per day. But I think he has  lost his interest in the project.

Nevertheless, he created several interesting playing card artworks. I think robots are better than ninjas. The full deck of robots could be a really nice present to playing card collectors. These playing cards have also custom suits which can be unusual for some collectors.

DeviantART: Playing Cards by weirdo-mess

These playing card artworks were created by a Finnish artist, weirdo-mess (nickname). I guess they are devoted to some kind of demons or satyrs. Don’t be surprised. In accordance with Greek mythology in 6th-century BC, human legs were common for satyrs.  They acquired their goat-like aspect through later Roman conflation with Faunus, a half-men, half-goats in Roman mythology. Satyrs became nearly identical with fauns under the influence of Roman mythology. So, satyrs commonly described in Latin literature as having the upper half of a man and the lower half of a goat, with a goat’s tail in place of the Greek tradition of horse-tailed satyrs

DeviantART: King of Hearts (Brandon Flowers) by Heloísa S. Flores

A Brazilian artist, Heloísa S. Flores (HFlores), designed a playing card dedicated to Brandon Flowers. I guess the King of Hearts as a choice of a card is a way to show her admiration for him.

Brandon Richard Flowers is an American musician, singer, songwriter and lyricist. He is best known as the frontman of the Las Vegas-based rock band The Killers.
