Kickstarter: Icons Playing Cards [The Imperial Edition] by Lotrek

New pack of playing cards from Lotrek (The Halfmoon Playing Cards). The designer of Timeless and Bicycle Butterflies Playing Cards, the creator and producer of Grotesque, Bicycle Venexiana, Venexiana Gold and Venexiana Dark decks decided to pay his attention to a different artistic style that flourished in Europe or influenced European Art. The deck inspired by the incredible splendor of the Byzantine Empire (c.330 A.D – 1453 A.D) and its heritage. Traditional courts will remain their traditional shticks, but will be translated into the Byzantine art style. This deck is one of three decks in the series. It is the most luxurious one: a) amazing custom art; b) its tuck case will be velvet, and you will find hot stamped gold foil inside it; c) all card backs will have both Gold and Silver hot stamped foil on them.

The deck will be printed by Lotrek in Greece.

DeviantART: Playing Cards by weirdo-mess

These playing card artworks were created by a Finnish artist, weirdo-mess (nickname). I guess they are devoted to some kind of demons or satyrs. Don’t be surprised. In accordance with Greek mythology in 6th-century BC, human legs were common for satyrs.  They acquired their goat-like aspect through later Roman conflation with Faunus, a half-men, half-goats in Roman mythology. Satyrs became nearly identical with fauns under the influence of Roman mythology. So, satyrs commonly described in Latin literature as having the upper half of a man and the lower half of a goat, with a goat’s tail in place of the Greek tradition of horse-tailed satyrs

Playing Card Art: The Queen of Clubs by Mark Bell

This Queen of Clubs was designed by a British artist, Mark Bell (Galvanise The Dog), as an art print. No indices, quasi-tangible body of the queen with a mysterious face. It’s interesting. You can add white border with indices and you’ll get a nice card for some Collective Art Project (CAP) deck of playing cards.

Bēhance: Monster Hunter Playing Cards by Scott Howard

These playing cards are artworks created by a British artist, Scott Howard. They all are based on monsters from the Monster Hunter games.

Monster Hunter is a fantasy-themed action role-playing video game developed and initially published by Capcom for PlayStation 2 (a home video game console that was manufactured by Sony Computer Entertainment). North America got this game in 2004. The game demands from its player to be a hunter who must accomplish various quests by hunting out specific kinds of monsters to kill or capture. Completed quests help the player to achieve his glory in the fantasy world. The successful first part gave birth to the respective franchise. The game is very popular in Japan. All games from the series had a strong on-line component. But in 2007, Monster Hunter’s on-line servers outside Japan were closed down.

The Kings and the Queens in these artworks are quite similar. But the King of Diamonds is too similar to the Queen of Diamonds… or vice versa.
