Kickstarter: Bicycle Steampunk Pirates Playing Cards by Nat Iwata
Nat Iwata decided to create a companion deck to his Bicycle Steampunk Cthulhu Deck (you have a chance to get it within this Kickstarter project). This artist likes to cross different themes in one deck of playing cards. This time pirates will be put in a steampunk world. The deck is planned to be printed by USPCC.
CARC: Erdnase 216 Bee Squeezers Playing Cards
Today we are going to speak about Erdnase 216 Bee Squeezers Playing Cards produced by the Conjuring Arts Research Center (CARC). The company produced these playing card in two different colours: tan and green. These two decks were printed by the United States Playing Card Company (USPCC) in 2013.
The Conjuring Arts Research Center is a not-for-profit organization located in Manhattan and dedicated to the preservation and interpretation of magic and its allied arts. It seeks to be an important cultural centre. Appealing to practitioners and performers of the conjuring arts, academic historians, collectors, writers and general enthusiasts, Conjuring Arts fills the gap between private collections of magic related history and information, and the public. In terms of a vault of magic literature it is like some kind of The Royal Library of Alexandria for appropriate target audience. But these guys are not only “librarians”. They are also producers of playing cards. Their decks of playing cards are mainly dedicated to magic needs and quite often have some historical roots.
These Erdnase 216 decks are the same design and similar feel as a rare Bee deck printed by the New York Consolidated Card Company in 1902. The Conjuring Arts Research Center in collaboration with USPCC created special Erdnase Finish for these playing cards to make them feel like the originals.
The deck: 52 playing cards + 2 identical Jokers. Poker size. Playing cards were printed on a special stock and have special Erdnase Finish (smooth). The only differences between these two decks are different colours of backs and tuck cases. There were used vintage court cards, indices and pips.
Bicycle Samurai Playing Cards by CC Éditions & Marchand de Trucs
Bicycle Samurai Playing Cards [First Edition] are the heroes of this blog today. I was able to find them on JP Playing Cards site (find a 10% discount below). This deck is dedicated to defenders of persons in the upper ranks of Japan society – the Samurai (the middle and upper echelons of the warrior class).
Playing cards were produced by the French company CC Éditions & Marchand de Trucs and printed by USPCC in 2011. The deck was available on a special site. Now it is sold out and can be found only on the secondary market.
Playing cards were designed by the English artist Sam Hayles (DOSE Productions). Readers of this blog should know him as this is the fourth his design featured on pages of the blog. This deck was designed for magic practice. So it has a minimum of customization (a custom tuck case, the Ace of Spades, Jokers and backs).
The deck: 52 playing cards + 3 Jokers (two of them are identical) + 1 blank card. Poker size. All court cards and number cards are Bicycle standard cards. Playing cards were printed on Bicycle Stock and have Air-Cushion Finish.

Kickstarter: Believe Playing Cards by System6Magic
Believe playing cards by System6Magic are inspired by the Wayang Shadow Puppets of the Island of Java (Indonesia). The deck is planned to be printed by the USPCC.
The Wayang Shadow Puppets are puppets for wayang shadow theatre which is traditional theatre in Indonesia. The word wayang translates from Javanese as shadows. These days wayang is most often associated with the puppet itself or the whole puppet theatre performance.
