This is a custom deck of playing cards designed by the Polish artist Andrea Austoni. He used the characters of one of his favorite TV comedy series – Parks and Recreation (an American comedy television series on the NBC television network). Andrea wanted to pay tribute to the show and to practice his portrait skills, doing something fun in the process. When he realized that the cast featured 8 male and four female characters the idea of the playing cards was born.

Collective Art Project (CAP) Deck: Custom52 Playing Cards Cycle #2
Custom52.com is a Canadian site representing an online design community using playing cards as the canvas. People use compact format of playing cards to showcase many artworks in one deck which is still convenient and functional. All artworks featured on the cards are entered by individual artists. The artwork is voted on and chosen by members of the community (the membership is free). Each deck of cards is referred to as a Cycle. The Cycle closes when enough designs are submitted. After that the public vote begins and the chosen design for each playing card goes to print.
This post is dedicated to the second deck produced by Custom52.com in 2008 – Cycle II Deck.
The deck: 52 different playing cards + 2 different Jokers + Information card. Bridge size. Playing cards are printed on quite soft cardboard and have a glossy finish (as well as the tuck case).

The Perfect Pair Playing Cards by Rule29
Rule29 is the American design studio. Teaming up with Just For Kicks and O’Neil Printing, the studio set out to create a deck of cards to capture their love for games and fresh Kicks. From the beginning, the Perfect Pair deck was designed to be as usable as possible. The one-eyed jacks are present, as is the one-eyed king. Each face card was given a name after a type of person that loves their shoes: “The Athlete,” “The Congressman,” “The Writer,” “The Fashionista,” etc. The remaining 36 cards each feature a different shoe profile to complete the unique deck.
The deck: 52 playing cards + 4 Jokers. Poker size. There were printed 2,500 decks in 2012.
Rule29 decided to create a special box for these playing cards. It nicely imitates a shoe box.

D&D: Fantastique Playing Cards by Sveta Dorosheva
We have already devoted several articles to some decks produced by the Dan & Dave Playing Card Company (D&D). As it was said in the article about Fulton’s Clip Joint Playing Cards, the company generally produces playing cards; accessories for magic and card manipulations; books and videos dedicated to those fields of activity. Sometimes they take part in some big projects (“OUR MAGIC“).
This time we are going to say several words about (and to show several pictures of) another deck produced by D&D in 2011 – Fantastique Playing Cards. It is inspired by the apparatus of magic‘s golden age and the automatons of Jean Eugène Robert-Houdin.
This deck was designed by the Ukrainian artist Sveta Dorosheva (currently based in Israel). She is a freelance illustrator working in the areas of narrative illustration and art for books.
Playing cards were printed by USPCC on casino cardboard (Magic Finish) and have poker size. The deck includes: 52 playing cards + 2 Jokers + 2 blank cards. The Ace of Spades, Jokers and backs are custom with unique illustrations. All other playing cards in this deck are standard (recoloured) Bicycle playing cards.
