I don’t remember any significant role of a fly in the novella. So I can be mistaken but I think that the fly (Cynmoyia mortuorum) one each court card from the Bicycle Mr Hyde Deck just underlines air of death as well as blood stains on all cards from this deck and its tuck case. At the same time the fly makes all the court cards one way.

Backs of both decks are strictly dedicated to the “split personality” of Dr Jekyll. In combination they demonstrate the transformation of Dr Jekyll into Mr Hyde.
The English actor Richard Mansfield (1857 – 1907) was well-known in the dual roles of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde
