Kickstarter: Venexiana Dark Playing Cards by Half Moon Playing Cards

A whole year after the first Venexiana deck, the story continues with a travel to the dark heart of 18th century Venice. Venexiana Dark features a series of obscure and marginal characters who complete the picture of this haunting city. Thieves, assassins, courtesans, wicked noblemen and masters of deception are all on board in this imaginary gondola.

The decks are planned to be printed by the Expert Playing Card Company (EPCC).

Kickstarter: The Retro Deck – Playing Cards by Pocono Modern

New playing cards come from successful creators of Woodland Deck on Kickstarter. Decks were designed by Joe Morelli and Pocono Modern. Two editions of one general theme are planned. They inspired by the simplicity and elegance of timeless Mid-Century Modern design.

Mid-Century Modern is an architectural, interior, product and graphic design that generally describes mid-20th century developments in modern American design, architecture and urban development from roughly 1933 to 1965. The term started to be used as the name of the style in mid-1950s. This style is now recognized by scholars and museums worldwide as a significant design movement.

About their relaunch of the project (02/08/2015):

“Initially we failed to raise enough money to produce The Retro Deck as we dreamed it: a multi-deck set of complimentary playing cards… Rather than letting that stop us, we were able to scrape together enough money to produce one of the two decks we campaigned for… To date we have sold enough of them to cover our debt but not enough to produce the second deck. If we can raise enough to produce this second deck in white we will be able to realize the full set as originally intended… And to keep it fun we’ve added a few extra perks to the deck, such as foil box seals and custom drink cards.” ~ Pocono Modern Playing Cards

White deck is also planned to be printed by the United States Playing Card Company (USPCC). Poker size.

Kickstarter: Bicycle Titanic Playing Cards by RJ Tomlinson

Creators of several successful playing card projects on Kickstarter continue to design beautiful decks with interesting cultural and historical background and propose them to playing card collectors. They decided to create a new series of playing card decks which will focus on several historical events where life and death was a major factor. The first decks in this series refer to the tragedy of RMS Titanic.

On her maiden voyage, April 10th 1912, the Titanic carried 2,224 passengers and crew towards New York City. As fate would have it, she would never make it to this destination. Late in the evening hours of April 14th she hit an iceberg. Within three hours, she sank to the bottom of the ocean taking with her 1,514 victims.

Decks are planned to be printed by USPCC and Expert Playing Card Company (Deluxe Edition). Poker size.

Crowdfunding Decks

I noticed that there are a lot of interesting decks on Kickstarter and on a new crowdfunding platform – CardLauncher. I think I’ll do more detailed reviews of the decks on my blog later. But they need your attention (possibly support) at this moment. All these decks are different so anyone has a chance to find something interesting exactly for his/her collection.
