Playing Card Art: Tiki Playing Cards by Michael L. Marland

Tiki Series of digital art prints by Michael L. Marland. Digitally-colored drawings using a combination of tiki images and playing card art.

Tiki are large wood and stone carvings which have humanoid forms and take special place in Central Eastern Polynesian cultures of the Pacific Ocean. This term is also used in Māori mythology. In accordance with this mythology Tiki was the first man created by either Tūmatauenga or Tāne.

Playing Card Art: Circus Freaks Playing Cards by Kate Guthrie

My final project for my Illustration II class, a concept for a deck of playing cards. My original idea included a circus freak for each number card, but the assignment only allowed for a general theme for all numbers. I hope to revisit the project and complete the rest of them. Completed digitally.” ~ Kate Guthrie

Bēhance: Hungarian Playing Cards by Barbara Bernát

I decided to  design a new set of Hungarian cards, or Tell-cards for this year’s school assignment. We had to create something which can be connected to the art nouveau movement of Hungary. Some of the figure cards feature hungarian and international artists of this style of art, the aces symbolize the four seasons. The deck contains 32 illustrated black-and-white cards.” ~ Barbara Bernát
