Summer’s Travel Playing Cards by Atipus

Atipus (Barcelona) is the Spanish design studio founded in 1998. Since then they have been working across a variety of media and fields, ranging from brand identity to packaging or web services. 5ZAR8BHKW2B4

The studio created special playing cards in 2010. In order to celebrate summer vacations and as a gift for their clients and collaborators, they illustrated a poker pack of 52 cards (inspired by the 50’s). This card game is within a series of traditional games (Unplugged collection) that the studio delivers since 2009 to enliven the Augusts’ vacations without relying on technology and electricity.

Illustrators: Guadalupe González, Javier Suárez and Gerard Oró.

Baraja Taurina Deck

These playing cards is a reprint of a bullfighting comic deck which originally was produced in Mexico (dated around 1960). A Spanish playing card collector Iñaki Aguirrezabal who is a big admirer of bullfighting themed decks organized this reprint – 200 hand numbered copies were printed (the manufacturer is unknown).

Fournier: Discovery and Colonisation of America Playing Cards

Discovery and Colonisation of America Playing Cards printed by Fournier in 1954, produced by Luis Ortiz Munoz, designed by Ricardo Summer Serny (España Imperial Playing Cards). This playing cards are dedicated to Colonisation of America. I assume them to be an addition to the book “Baraja histórica descubridores y colonizadores de América” (text – Luis Ortiz Munoz, illustrations – Ricardo Summers Serny).
